Another cool map to check out, the Coastal Mountains Map is an attempt at creating a more realistically rendered world, this one with a focus on a coastal mountainous area. It gives a great look at what it would look like if the world of Minecraft was rendered in a more realistic and larger fashion.
Unfortunately, due to the engine constraints of the game, you will see a reason for why the map is not rendered in this fashion as soon as you enter the map, you simply can’t see very far, and the render distances limits are clearly and jarringly obvious.
The map still looks good however, but it should mostly be tried for aesthetic purposes, and for seeing it in-game for yourself, not so much for the maps actual usefulness. The area worked on is also lower than the rest of the world, so go too far in any direction and you’ll face a “border” when you reach the “naturally” rendered areas. Another effect this has, is due to being so far down in the map, when you’re on the ground, you will experience the same effects as if you were very far down into the ground, near bedrock, such as a more foggy view and various particles floating around in the air.
Check it out for a cool glance at what might have been, and what might come in the future, but don’t expect to find much actual practical use in this map.
The creator have said that this was a test for an upcoming map, so hopefully we will see something similar to this, albeit much cooler and more useful, in the future!
