You have probably tried several magic mods for Minecraft, and thought they were too tame, or that not enough danger was evolved. Maybe you got bored with the peaceful things you could do, and all the critters running around without a care in the world. If so, then the Blood Magic Mod is for you!
In RPGs and fantasy, blood magic is one of the most dangerous and darkest arts of magic available to a mage or sorceress, as it uses the most potent of ingredients: blood. While granting a lot of power, it also meddles with volatile magic that can easily prove deadly for inexperienced users. It usually also requires human sacrifice or worse, and as such, is often looked down upon by the masses.
Being labeled as ‘evil’, blood magic users are outcasts, living on the fringe of society, and often becoming the monsters they were labeled as. In some incarnations, blood magic is also addictive, although that is not the case in this mod. Not all users are necessarily evil though, some acknowledging its uses without being corrupted by its allure, resorting to using themselves or animals as the source of the blood.
Blood is life essence, and is the power behind the spells, rituals, and items found in this mod, so prepare to stock up on food, potions, and other stuff that will regenerate your life, as you will need to use your own in the beginning. However, as you move forward and become stronger, other, more… convenient sources of blood may be used.
Every item of power found in this mod consumes life essence (aka. blood), measured in the unit “LP”. In general, 100LP equals half a heart of life, which can help when trying to figure out just how much power the various items require. You can craft items to store LP early on, so instead of draining your health directly on use, items will start by draining any eventual LP you have stored in items in your inventory. Blood Pacts are another feature to be mindful of, whenever you use an item in this mod, you form a pact with it, and it is bound to you forever. This means that that item will only drain your blood or LP when used, no matter the user. The bond between a player and their items is referred to as the Soul Network.
Some of the features of this mod are:
- Blood Altars
- Sacrificial Knives
- Blood Orbs
- Runes
- Blood Letter’s Pack
- Sigils and Powerful Items
- Rituals
- Spells
- Alchemy – The Creation of Custom Potions and More Fun Things
- Demon Summoning
- Demon Invasions
The Blood Magic Mod is a very expansive and deep mod, and unless you play in creative, you won’t become an all-powerful master of demons overnight! It adds a bunch of new useful and cool stuff, as well as more interesting end-game items and things to do.
It is highly recommended that you check out the wiki, in order to learn about the various things found in the mod and how to use them, as it doesn’t feature an in-game manual (yet).
