The Defender Mod is for all you loners out there who wants to feel less alone in the big world. Or simply for people who wants some NPC Defenders for their castle, village, spaceship or whatever else you might have built.
4 Freshly spawned Defenders, at your service.
That is what this mod adds: craft-able Defenders that is at your command.
This mod requires Minecraft Forge, so be sure to install that before you install this mod.
Defenders looks just like Steve, and will protect him (you) with their life if need be. However, they really hate Iron Golems as well as other monsters, so keep that in mind.
Defenders are spawned by using a Defender Egg, which in turn is crafted by combining an egg with gold. They can then be equipped with any armor that you toss to them, making them hardier and more durable.
There is also an archer variant of the Defender, to craft a Archer Defender, simply combine a Defender Spawn Egg with a bow. They look the same as regular Defenders, but will shoot a bow instead of using melee weapons. Here are the crafting recipes for both:
A Defender will follow you if you hold gold in your hands, essentially making them your personal bodyguards for as long as you have gold in your hands. Otherwise, they will roam the area they were spawned in.
A simple Archer Defender with no armor.
They are also smart enough to ignore creepers, so you don’t have to worry about any Defenders setting off creepers and blowing your beautiful buildings or items up.
They will attack every single hostile mob they come across, except for the creepers and for ghasts, otherwise zombies, skeletons, spiders and the rest are all on their shit-list.
Do be warned though, that this mod also adds Invaders to the game, who will seek to kill you and your defenders. So be vigilant and keep an eye out, lest you will be on the wrong end of an Invader sword.
Invaders are equipped with an Iron Sword and no armor, so while they pose a threat, it is not a major one. But don’t get swarmed.
Seeing as defenders will hunt and attack anything hostile, they will get hurt a lot, so having some healing potions at the ready is definitively recommended.

How to install the Defender Mod for Minecraft:
- Download the mod.
- If you don’t have Forge, then download and install Minecraft Forge.
- Open your minecraft folder (in Windows: Start -> Run -> “%appdata%\.minecraft”).
- Copy the mod .zip file you downloaded to the “mods” folder found inside the .minecraft folder.
- That should do it, enjoy your new Defender buddies, and beware of any Invaders!
