The Herobrine Mod is a horror mod based on Minecraft’s own urban legend, the legend of Herobrine.
In this urban legend, Herobrine is supposedly an unknown and mysterious entity that would sometimes appear in players games. The first signs of him would be odd structures appearing out of nowhere, mobs with completely white eyes, and strange sounds. People would also catch glimpses of another player character in their game, even if they played in singleplayer mode. This player had the default skin of Steve, with one notable difference: his eyes were completely white!
Eventually, this new entity would turn hostile and actively seek to kill the player, first through the use of traps but then later on, through direct confrontation, hunting players down no matter where they hid. Supposedly, a player later found that the name of this entity was “Herobrine”, and that it was the same name that Notch’s unknown brother used online. When asked about him, Notch simply stated that “he was no longer with us”, implying he had died sometime in the past.
Somehow, his spirit found its way to the game, and now he hunts down players in a fit of anger and confusion, remembering only Notch and his biggest creation, Minecraft.
All of that is completely made up of course, and no players were ever haunted by Herobrine in the real world, but with this mod, you can experience the urban legend in the (digital) flesh!
With this mod installed, Herobrine can be summoned into your game, by creating a totem to him. The totem consists of 2 solid gold blocks, 1 Herobrine totem block (created with 8 bones and 1 soul sand) and a netherrack. The gold blocks are then placed on top of each other, then the Herobrine totem block, then the netherrack. Light the netherrack on fire, and Herobrine will be summoned to your game!
Here is the recipe for the totem block:
And here is how the totem should look when placed:
What happens when you light it:
Warning: Herobrine will make lava appear randomly, set things on fire and blow stuff up, all while building structures of his own, so if you use this mod on a map you really like, be warned that your buildings might get ruined. It is therefor recommended that you backup any world you intend to summon Herobrine to, and pray to the gods that he doesn’t decide to visit other worlds of yours… Also, Herobrine can and probably will scare you, so don’t have a weak heart, or a full colon when playing with this mod.
Herobrine is also a formidable foe, so it is highly recommended that you don’t summon him until you’re well armed, armored, and supplied. He can and will kill you if he gets the chance!
Important: Herobrine Mod requires Minecraft Forge.
It is a pretty well-made mod, and it is surprisingly scary to be haunted by this surprisingly intelligent entity, one that leaves its own mark and what should otherwise be your world! Herobrine abides by no rules of man!
Check it out if you want more danger and excitement to your game, or if you love games in the vein of Alien: Isolation, Slender, or Outlast, as being stalked by Herobrine provides a similar experience.
