The MC Helicopter Mod is a pretty insane mod that adds a wide array of military and civilian aircraft to the game! What started as a helicopter mod has now turned into something more, encompassing all manner of vehicles, and it features a bunch of (fully working) military choppers such as the American Apache, and the Russian Hind. Planes are also featured, planes such as the newly introduced Osprey, or classics like the awesome-and-deadly A-10 Thunderbolt II.
But that’s not all. Boats! Yep, this helicopter mod features boats as well, both of the military and civilian kind! Most vehicles featured in this mod (of which there are many) feature a fully working cockpit, often with multiple viewing modes such as night vision or thermal cam. You can easily switch between weaponry, raise or lower landing gear, turn on hover mode and more, depending on the vehicle.

There are often room for more than one player in the vehicles, usually a pilot and gunner, and sometimes passengers as well. The vehicles work surprisingly well, and I didn’t encounter any issues while testing it, they’re easy to fly, instructions on how to use most things are often displayed in the cockpit along with a lot of other information such as altitude. To shoot, simply right-click and watch whatever you’re aiming at turn to dust.
One minor annoyance is that explosives doesn’t seem to affect terrain, but it might have been too taxing, or the creator simply didn’t want it to. Either way, it’s a very minor detriment, and this mod has a lot to offer.
Items and gear are also featured in the mod, usually stuff used to take down airplanes such as Stinger Launchers, or items that are very useful to have in an airplane, such as a parachute. The technical aspects of this mod is incredibly impressive as well, stuff such as how you’re able to easily switch from and to VTOL mode in the Osprey, how easy it is to fly, changing between ammo without issues, and the GUI inside aircraft, it is all very cool and well-made.

As you can see, there are plenty of toys to play around with, both on land, in the air, and at sea. They also span several different eras, so if you’re more of a fan of WWII, there’s something for you as well.
All crafting recipes are included in the .zip file, so if you want to know how to craft something, look there. Normally you’d just drag the .zip file into the mod directory to install it since this is a Forge mod, but in this case, it is useful to unzip it first in order to get a hold of the recipes.
All in all, a quite incredible, awesome, cool, and super sweet mod!
Important: the MC Helicopter Mod requires Minecraft Forge for Minecraft 1.7.10 (specifically version 10.13.2.1230)
How to install the MC Helicopter Mod for Minecraft:
- Download the mod.
- Download and install Minecraft Forge.
- Open your Minecraft folder (in Windows: Start -> Run -> “%appdata%\.minecraft”).
- Copy the mod .jar file(s) you downloaded to the “mods” folder, found inside the .minecraft folder.
- That’s it! The mod should now be installed and ready to go, so go crazy and shoot the place up with your awesome new hardware!
