This map is probably one of the most impressive maps yet, and really shows the possibilities of Minecraft 1.8 and later off!
Simburbia is a SimCity inspired MAP (yep, no modding needed) for Minecraft.
This map lets you create your own city from scratch, by placing various zones on plots around the map. It is both incredibly fun, and extremely impressive at the same time.
The gameplay is pretty simple. You start off as the mayor of an empty city area, you have 500k in money, and then you are told to start creating your city.
Your first course of action will be to place a power-plant to provide power to the surrounding plots. You won’t have much of a choice in where to place this, as there is only 1 available spot.
From here on out, you get to decide where to place the zones though, and now you must try to make the best possible city! Along the way, various disasters and other events will happen, and your job is to stay on top of them and make sure they don’t ruin your glorious city.
That’s mostly what the main game is about, however, this map comes with A LOT of secrets and fun little stuff you can mess around with. In commercial zones, pretty much every shop or company will have a button you can press. In other zones, plenty of secrets are also to be found. Press ALL the buttons! (But.. be careful)
These buttons can do anything, from giving you items, telling you stories, and unlocking new themes for your Town Hall, to sending griefers to your town (don’t worry, only superficial, and you can pay to remove them) or pump you full of arrows. Don’t worry about dying though, it doesn’t really matter if you do.
Along the way you’ll unlock special buildings, like the town dump, where you can dump the items you find for a chance of getting extra money (you’ll have to pay to erect these though, they won’t just appear).
Everything you need to know is also thoroughly explained in-game, first with a clickable link to a YouTube video and then an in-game tutorial.
For examples of how your city looks, check out these pictures of my own progressing city:
This map is surprisingly fun, well-made, and with a little tweaking and carefulness, possible to be played in multiplayer with your friends! Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!
