The Superheroes Unlimited is one of the cooler and more bad-ass mods out there, as it allows you to step into the shoes (or rather, suits) of all your favorite Superheroes! Donning a full set of a hero’s costume will unlock their powers, allowing you to do crazy stuff, and make you pretty powerful, and pretty hard to kill. The most popular heroes are featured in the mod, both from the DC and Marvel universes, and even some from other universes, such as Zorro.
The mod currently features over 50 Superheroes, or variants of the same, such as many of the Iron Man suits, and alternate costumes for Batman. Each and everyone has special abilities that are available to you, but only once you equip the full set of the same hero’s outfit, no mixing and matching allowed.
Some examples of these powers are flight, available to Thor for no charge, but Iron Man uses power when flying (you can see how much you have by the awesome HUD shown in first person). War Machine, Iron Man’s friend, can also fire rockets and use his chain-gun to easily take down foes, provided you have ammo. The Flash is super fast, and Ant-Man can shrink himself while improving his strength. Most abilities are used by pressing the “R”, “G”, “F”, or “C” keys (default), or some special Suit Ability keys. For more info about the various suits abilities and how to use them, check the authors website.
Some heroes are obviously much stronger than others, but all of them are fun to use, and most have some common advantages, such as faster sprint or stronger attacks.
To get a hold of these powerful suits, you will need to start crafting, and it can be a lengthy process. You can craft entirely new crafting benches, such as the Hero-Maker, Batcomputer, and Stark Workbench from where you craft certain suits, but for more info and a crash-course in getting started, check the guide. Usually you craft some new blocks or stuff from vanilla Minecraft items, and then use those items to craft the suits.
Some items aren’t available like that, and for that you will need the help of assistant mobs such as Stan Lee. He has access to materials found no where else, such as Asgardian Steel. To spawn him, you must craft a cellphone, the recipe to which can be found in the link above. Lucius Fox is another assistant, only available to Batman (he will only talk to you if you’re dressed as him), and called by the Bat-Handlink. He will trade you numerous gadgets for Black Iron, and is the only way of obtaining the Batmobile! Finally, Batman has access to Alfred, who while not as exciting as the other mobs, will provide food to players dressed as Batman or members of the Batfamily, such as Robin.
You can even reach other places with some of the suits, such as Mars. To get there, simply keep flying and you’ll be teleported there once you get high enough. Remember though, only these characters can survive on the surface: Superman, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Thor, Vision, Ultron Prime, Ultimate Ultron. To get back, simply fly high enough again. Mars doesn’t have much to offer yet, only Mars Rock and Martian Relics (used to craft the Martian Manhunter Suit). Wakanda can also be reached if you have a Wakanda Map and right-click the ground in a savanna biome.
Plenty of weapons are also available to the heroes, such as Repulsors and Mjolnir (which is really awesome, lightning at your fingertips!).
Superheroes Unlimited is an extremely fun and exciting mod, as getting to play around as your favorite hero in a sandbox is rarely boring! So if you’re feeling like flying around like Thor or Tony Stark, or running faster than light as the Flash, then you should definitively check this mod out. Another cool mod that has a similar premise, and does some things better (but others worse) is the Project Superhuman Mod.
